As humans, our connection to nature is undeniable. It is for that reason that we need to respect nature by protecting our environment. The Garden Abode program, regardless of whether someone is homeless, a student, or just part of the neighborhood, aims to teach as well as encourage community members to beautify their communities by planting vegetable gardens, flowers, and trees; removing litter from the street; and showcasing community street art.
Garden Abode is a year-round program with the exception of August, that is divided into two projects:
Clean Street Initiatives - Weekday projects that involves working with the homeless population to clean up the community by picking up trash. They will be compensated with pay of $15/hr (max. 3hrs) plus free on-site meals.
Scenic Weekends - Weekend projects that involves creating murals and engaging in different artistic endeavors around the neighborhood. Only open to students between the ages of 13 through 18 years old.
