Step Up BIG Detroit! is an invitation to join the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters, a leading youth empowerment organization inspired to create equity and empowerment for the children and youth in our community who need us the most.
WHO WE ARE:
Our vision is for all youth to achieve their full potential. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We work with youth, 7 - 17 years old in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Every year, youth in our programs see better academic performance, achieve their goals, experience meaningful relationships, see a better outlook on life, avoid risky behavior — like skipping school, drugs or fighting, and so much more. In other words, these young people are on their way to BIG, bright futures!
YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US:
-Move youth off our waiting list and into a meaningful, life-changing relationship with a mentor, called a Big Brother or Big Sister.
-Enhance volunteer recruitment, as well as implement ongoing JEDI training for our volunteers, mentors, families, staff, and others who connect with our youth.
-Strengthen our equity programming with a focus on youth social emotional wellbeing and academic success, along with a plan and roadmap for the future.
-Educate our community about the invaluable role Big Brothers Big Sisters plays in moving youth toward success.
